Product Description
A Bit About Spyderco
Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser. Initially, the company focused on selling our first product — the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker— primarily at fairs and trade shows around the country in their Bread Truck. In 1981, the Glessers put down roots in Golden, Colorado and introduced the first Spyderco folding knife. That knife pioneered the concept of a round hole in the blade for one-handed opening, a clip on the handle for carrying at the top of the pocket, and the option of a serrated edge for aggressive cutting performance. Those features revolutionized the knife industry and literally defined the form of the modern folding knife.

All I really want to say here is that the knife is a pleasure to look at, hold and use. It looks better than in the photos. The Micarta is gorgeous, and all the metal edges are chamfered for a very sleek, polished, high-end appearance and feel. The knife is very light (2.7 oz) and carries great in a jeans coin pocket. (Dork that I am I even carry it around the house in my basketball shorts pocket, not too heavy for even that.) Despite the weight, the lockback action has that strong, sexy click you're looking for, and is much smoother than the more value-priced knives that serve me so well on an everyday basis. The pocket clip, which I wasn't a big fan of in the photos, is actually stunning.
Bottom line is, if you're looking for a medium-capability utility knife, I'm sure this does the job. But if in addition to that you're looking for a beautiful EDC accessory that you'll be proud to clip in every day, at no point will you regret choosing the SpyderCo SpyOpera. If you have the money and think you'll like it, trust me, you will -- buy without reservation.
I'll update this review if there are any QC or durability revelations, but I seriously doubt I'll have anything else of interest to say.
The only surprise was it is a little smaller than I expected .
