A Bit About Spyderco

Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser. Initially, the company focused on selling our first product — the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker— primarily at fairs and trade shows around the country in their Bread Truck. In 1981, the Glessers put down roots in Golden, Colorado and introduced the first Spyderco folding knife. That knife pioneered the concept of a round hole in the blade for one-handed opening, a clip on the handle for carrying at the top of the pocket, and the option of a serrated edge for aggressive cutting performance. Those features revolutionized the knife industry and literally defined the form of the modern folding knife.

Best EDC knife i have owned. Craftsmanship outstanding, attention to detail is superb. At 2.68 oz it is invisible in my pocket. The shopping experience and dealer were top notch as well.

Made in Italy and good steel. Great collab and so far no complaints. Easy to open and close with one hand once you break it in

I've had the SpyderCo SpyOpera for just a few days now. Haven't put it through it's paces, but it's a SpyderCo with a lionSteel blade in Bohler m390 -- which is to say, I have zero doubt that it will last forever and do everything it can be reasonably expected to.

All I really want to say here is that the knife is a pleasure to look at, hold and use. It looks better than in the photos. The Micarta is gorgeous, and all the metal edges are chamfered for a very sleek, polished, high-end appearance and feel. The knife is very light (2.7 oz) and carries great in a jeans coin pocket. (Dork that I am I even carry it around the house in my basketball shorts pocket, not too heavy for even that.) Despite the weight, the lockback action has that strong, sexy click you're looking for, and is much smoother than the more value-priced knives that serve me so well on an everyday basis. The pocket clip, which I wasn't a big fan of in the photos, is actually stunning.

Bottom line is, if you're looking for a medium-capability utility knife, I'm sure this does the job. But if in addition to that you're looking for a beautiful EDC accessory that you'll be proud to clip in every day, at no point will you regret choosing the SpyderCo SpyOpera. If you have the money and think you'll like it, trust me, you will -- buy without reservation.

I'll update this review if there are any QC or durability revelations, but I seriously doubt I'll have anything else of interest to say.

Very well made. Rounded corners everywhere. Best grade materials. Big enough to do most things you want a folding knife to do but not so utilitarian. And certainly not wannabe tactical. Has some gentleman style while still retaining a lot of the functionality of a larger blade.

Very good knife with high quality steel .
The only surprise was it is a little smaller than I expected .

Absolutely solid. Well constructed, beautiful material, back sides of all metal pieces are rounded not cut flat, wire clip, just the detail put into the knife is remarkable. The blade itself is the sharpest I own (out of other Spyderco and Benchmade among others). Nothing I'd change, would purchase again in a heartbeat.

I collect Spyderco knives as a hobby. This is as beautiful a knife as the company has produced in years. The craftsmanship and materials are exceptional. The price is a little high but if you want a fine EDC knife I recommend this one.
